Whether you’re looking to celebrate something specific, or just blow off some steam at the end of a long week, sometimes you just want to treat yo’self. You know, do something just for you that’s more indulgent than your daily routine.
But when you think of an indulgence, dollar signs come to mind. You want to do something special, but not $500-dinner special.
With that in mind, here are 10 fabulous ways to treat yourself for less than $10.
#1. Take yourself shopping… on loyalty points.
It seems like every major retailer has a loyalty program these days, so use that to your advantage! Check your balances online, and then treat yourself to something at a store using your points. Depending on what you buy, in most cases, you’ll only need to pay the tax on your purchase, if that!
The drugstore is a great place to do this, since you can use your points on a pretty new nail polish, a magazine, a fancy perfume, or a lipstick, to name a few.
#2. Make a mini at-home spa night.
Raid your bathroom and pamper yourself!
Here are a few things you can do:
Take a bubble bath.
Apply a face mask.
Use a hair mask or hair treatment.
Give yourself a manicure and pedicure.

#3. Buy yourself a new book.
If you love reading, why not treat yourself to a new book? It will provide hours of entertainment or inspiration, and won’t break the bank.
I just finished (and LOVED!) The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware, which is a fiction mystery/thriller. But I’d recommend anything by Brené Brown if you’re looking for something in the self development category.
#4. Take yourself to see a matinee movie.
In most cases, movies are cheaper during the day, and often less busy! To save even more money, bring your own snacks from home (or stop at a store ahead of time to pick something up).
#5. Get the guac.
Or cheese. Or whatever add-on you really want but normally won’t spring the extra $2 for.
#6. Buy a fancy drink.
A smoothie, $5 latte, or bottle of kombucha may not be your everyday jam, but can be a nice treat!
And if you’re a cocktail lover, you can treat yourself to a fancy alcoholic drink, though that may run you over $10.
#7. Buy yourself fresh flowers.
A little bit of nature plus a brighter, fresher home? That’s what I call a win-win.
#8. Cook (or bake!) something decadent.
I know what you may be thinking: cooking isn’t fun, it’s work! But if you choose a recipe for a dish you love and take your time preparing it with no deadline or rush, it can be a pleasant (and dare I say, fun!) experience.
Here are some ideas:
“World’s Best” Macaroni & Cheese (get the recipe here!)
Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake (I made this one last year and it was a hit!)
Beer Cheese-Stuffed Pretzels (how good do these look?)
Pretty much anything from Tasty
#9. Go to a class.
Call me a nerd, but I see learning as a treat!
Take yourself to a yoga or barre class, lecture, cooking class, or something totally different.
#10. Binge on Netflix.
Yes, watching hours of TV may not be the most productive use of time, but every once and a while, it’s nice to chill out! Check out The Absolute Best TV Shows on Netflix for my recommendations.
And when you’re ready to be productive, this post has you covered!
